Does BedLedger collect rent, or just record it?
BedLedger records rent; it does not collect or hold money. You take rent the way you already do, in cash, by UPI or by bank transfer, and BedLedger keeps the register, issues the invoice and the signed receipt, and chases what is still out.
Is BedLedger made for PG owners and small landlords in India?
Yes. It is built around beds in a PG and flats in a small block, in rupees, with cash and UPI treated as first-class. It is not adapted from a Western property-management tool.
Can I track cash and UPI rent payments, not just bank transfers?
Yes. Cash, UPI and bank transfers all go in through the same form in seconds, against the right tenant, bed and invoice. A UPI reference cannot be entered twice.
Do my tenants need to install an app?
No. Tenants get a web portal and sign in with a six-digit code emailed to them. Reminders arrive on WhatsApp and email, in the apps they already use. The BedLedger mobile app that is coming soon is for owners.
How do the WhatsApp reminders work, and can a tenant opt out?
Reminders go out 3 days before the due date, on the due date, 3 and 7 days after, then weekly until the invoice is settled. WhatsApp is always in addition to email, never instead of it, and only for tenants who have opted in. You can turn it off per tenant at any time.
How does BedLedger handle part-payments?
Each payment is recorded against the invoice and the balance updates to the rupee. The invoice stays part-paid, the reminders ask only for what is left, and the receipt says whether that payment settles it in full.
Is BedLedger free, and what happens when paid plans start?
It is free while BedLedger is in early access, with no card and no trial clock. Paid plans are planned from January 2027. Anyone who signs up during early access keeps their first year free, and you get 30 days' notice before anything is billed.
Where is my data stored?
In India. The service runs on servers in Mumbai and the database is hosted in the Mumbai region. BedLedger does not store tenants' Aadhaar numbers.
Pricing and billing
What does “your first year stays free” mean?
Any account created during early access gets twelve months free from the day paid plans launch. There is no code to enter and nothing to claim.
Am I being charged anything today?
No. There is no card on file and no trial that expires.
What currency and taxes?
Prices are in Indian rupees per month. GST, where applicable, will be shown at checkout when billing begins.
Does BedLedger take a cut of the rent?
No. BedLedger records rent; it never holds or moves the money, so there is no transaction fee of any kind.
