Built for the owner who collects rent personally.
1st prize, Hostinger 21-Day Startup Challenge 2026
BedLedger was designed, built and shipped in 21 days in September 2026 for the Hostinger 21-Day Startup Challenge, and won first prize. It is now being built into a full product, on the web and on phones.
BedLedger is built and run by Ankit Mahajan, an independent software engineer based in Bengaluru. It is not venture-funded, and it is not an agency product. You can reach Ankit directly at support@bedledger.com; that address is read by him.
The name is what it does. A PG owner's rent register is a bed ledger: one line for every bed, who sleeps in it, and what they have paid. BedLedger is that ledger, kept for you.
Who it is for
BedLedger is for owner-operated PG and hostel properties with roughly 15 to 60 beds, and for small landlords with 2 to 20 flats, including owners who manage their properties remotely. If you track rent, deposits and payments yourself, and you want one clear record instead of a notebook and three WhatsApp chats, it is for you.
The problem it addresses
Owners running PGs and small rentals usually keep records by hand: a register for rent, a separate note for deposits, and memory for who paid in cash and who paid by UPI. Payments come in through several channels at different times, so the same tenant can be marked paid in one place and overdue in another. At month end, working out who owes what becomes a guessing game, and remote owners have no reliable way to check without calling someone on site.
BedLedger keeps the rent register for every tenant, bed and rupee on one screen, and treats cash, UPI and bank payments the same way. Every invoice is kept with its payments, so the record stays consistent and auditable.
What it is not
BedLedger is not a full PG management suite. It does not do bookings, food or inventory, or staff payroll. It focuses on recording the money between owners and tenants properly: rent, deposits and payments. And it never touches the money itself. Rent goes straight from the tenant to the owner.
Where it is made and hosted
BedLedger is made in Bengaluru, India. The service runs on servers in Mumbai, and the database is hosted in the Mumbai region, so tenant and payment records stay in India.
